The inauguration of the Jairaj Sports and Convention Centre in Pune marked a proud moment for the Gujarati community and the city at large. The ambitious project, constructed over 2.5 lakh square feet with an estimated investment of ₹300 crore, has been led by Jayant Shah Pune Builder and Director at Jairaj Developers, alongside his elder brother Mr. Rajesh Shah, Director at Jairaj Group.
The centre was formally inaugurated by Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah, with dignitaries including Maharashtra Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, and Union MoS for Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol in attendance.

Jayant Shah Pune Builder, the younger son of Shri Hirabhai Shah, has been the driving force behind the group’s foray into real estate. After joining the family business, he extensively traveled across India’s rice-producing states to understand trade dynamics. Mr. Rajesh Shah, elder son of Shri Hirabhai Shah, entered the family business early and played a key role in building its foundation. Today, he continues to lead the commodity vertical of Jairaj Group with dedication.

In his address, Amit Shah praised the Shri Poona Gujarati Bandhu Samaj and especially acknowledged the unity and commitment behind the centre’s construction. He called it the most beautiful Gujarati community building in the country and encouraged members to support its 5,000-book library, with a target of expanding to 15,000 books through community contributions.
He also highlighted Pune’s cultural and historical significance—from Shivaji Maharaj and the Peshwas to Bal Gangadhar Tilak—and called the city a beacon of knowledge, social change, and nationalism.

Amit Shah connected the development of the Jairaj Centre to the broader transformation of India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, citing achievements in rural electrification, sanitation, healthcare, economic growth, and national security.
He emphasized that leaders like Rajesh Shah and Jayant Shah Pune Builder are setting examples of how community leadership, unity, and long-term vision can build institutions that serve society for generations.
